Οι ισραηλινές ναυτικές δυνάμεις προχώρησαν στην αναχαίτιση και κατάληψη του μεγαλύτερου μέρους των σκαφών του διεθνούς στόλου «Global Sumud Flotilla». Η αποστολή αυτή αποτελούσε την τρίτη προσπάθεια να παραδοθεί ανθρωπιστική βοήθεια στη Λωρίδα της Γάζας, παρακάμπτοντας τον υφιστάμενο ναυτικό αποκλεισμό.
Σύμφωνα με το Reuters, το οποίο επικαλείται τους διοργανωτές της αποστολής, οι ισραηλινές δυνάμεις κατάφεραν να ακινητοποιήσουν 41 από τα πλοία. Ωστόσο, 10 σκάφη κατάφεραν να συνεχίσουν την πορεία τους προς τον παλαιστινιακό θύλακα.
